Herbal Spa Massage Composition

Ayurveda

Ayurveda, which translates to "knowledge of life," is an ancient Indian healing system aiming to preserve health and wellness. It achieves this by maintaining a balance among the mind, body, and spirit, thus preventing diseases rather than solely treating them. Ayurveda is composed of three doshas—vata, pitta, and kapha—representing different energies that are present from birth.

Doshas

The doshas symbolize the five elements present in nature: Air, Fire, Water, Earth, and Ether. These elements constitute the fundamental components of life. Your doshas are determined at the moment of conception (Prakruti), and although each person possesses all three doshas, typically one or two hold a more prominent role. These doshas exhibit a continual state of change as you progress through life; factors such as age, diet, surroundings, seasons, and daily routines exert an influence on your doshas. As the doshas fluctuate and shift in balance over time, they wield an impact on your well-being, vitality, and overall emotional state.

Ayurvedic Add-On Treatments

Garshana

30 Min Full Body Massage that stimulates the lymph. Using raw silk gloves that will help increase circulation, remove toxins from the body, and improve the appearance in your skin. This add-on can be added to the Swedish/Deep Tissue or Ayurvedic Body Treatment Massages. It is part of the Abhyanga session as it helps open the pores up for the medicated oil.

Swedana

Swedana is also known as steam therapy, and would follow a massage treatment. Swedana is used to reduce pain, stiffness, and coldness in the body to name a few. Please do not select if you have any heart condition, blood pressure issues, pregnant, edema, or inflammation in the skin.

Abhyanga

Ayurvedic abhyanga, an oil massage therapy rooted in Ayurveda, emphasizes the concepts of "oiling" and "love." This practice provides a feeling of stability, warmth, and comfort, enhancing overall health and balance through the skin. The massage technique includes gentle rubbing, pressing, and the use of warm herbal oils tailored to individual requirements. By working with the nervous system, abhyanga promotes mental tranquility, starting with a head and neck massage and progressing to different body parts using various strokes.

Abhyanga is great for pain relief and healing, following a specific stroke sequence that involves long, smooth movements with customized warm herbal oils. Depending on the type, it may incorporate herbal powders, pastes, or ghee. Massaging the body helps reduce tension, aches, and balances vata dosha in Ayurveda. Specific oils bring additional benefits such as stress relief, improved blood circulation, muscle toning, better sleep, detoxification, and skin health. It also supports organ function, prevents injuries, and is beneficial for nervous system conditions. Ayurvedic massage prepares the body for panchakarma and is especially advantageous during seasonal transitions.

Shirodhara

In Sanskrit, "Shiro" translates to head, and "Dhara" to flow, combining to form Shirodhara, a popular Ayurvedic treatment. This therapy involves delicately pouring warm oils tailored to the body over the forehead at a specific height and duration. The goal is to create a continuous flow through the head and body, offering respite from the mental strain caused by prolonged screen time and digital exposure.

Within holistic approaches, the mind-body connection is essential, likened to a tree where the body represents the tree and the mind acts as its root. Just as a tree requires well-tended roots for healthy growth, a nurtured mind is vital for the body's thriving. Shirodhara concentrates on the three doshas - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha - addressing issues related to each constitution, including anxiety, stress, and depression.

By targeting stress, a prevalent cause of modern ailments, Shirodhara soothes the nervous system with therapeutic oils, inducing profound relaxation. This treatment can enhance mental clarity, sleep quality, and overall well-being, offering benefits like reduced anxiety, improved concentration, memory, and relief from headaches and hormonal imbalances.
